Validation of the Visual Cognitive Assessment Test (VCAT) for the Early Diagnosis of Cognitive Impairment in Multilingual Population in Malaysia

As Malaysia undergoes a demographic transformation of population aging, the prevalence dementia is expected to rise, posing major public health threat issue. Early screening detect cognitive impairment important implement appropriate clinical interventions. The Visual Cognitive Assessment Test (VCAT) language-neutral assessment tool suitable for multilingual populations. This study was aimed validate VCAT detection amongst Malaysia. A total 184 participants were recruited, comprising 79 cognitively healthy (CHP), 46 mild (MCI) patients, and 59 (Alzheimer’s disease Vascular Dementia) patients from five hospitals between May 2018 December 2019 determine usefulness VCAT. Diagnostic performance assessed using area under curve (AUC), receiver operating characteristic (ROC) analysies performed recommended cutoff scores.
